The Role
We are seeking a hands‐on and highly organised Fleet Manager to oversee the day‐to‐day operations of our linehaul and general freight fleet.
This role is responsible for coordinating long-distance freight movements, managing drivers and subcontractors, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high service standards across interstate transport operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, coordinate, and manage daily linehaul and general freight operations, including scheduling, load planning, and job allocation
* Allocate transport jobs to company drivers and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication of delivery timelines and interstate schedules
* Oversee end‐to‐end freight movements across Australia, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries
* Monitor and manage fleet utilisation, route planning, and driver allocation to maximise operational efficiency
* Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management, NHVR regulations, and transport safety standards
* Coordinate with depots, warehouses, and customers to ensure smooth freight handling and delivery outcomes
* Act as the main point of contact for drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders, resolving operational issues promptly
* Utilise transport management systems to track fleet performance, freight movement, and delivery schedules
* Maintain accurate records of operations, compliance documentation, and performance metrics
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and service delivery
* Manage and respond to unforeseen delays, route disruptions, and operational challenges in a proactive manner
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualification in transport, logistics, supply chain, or a related field (preferred)
* Minimum 1 year of experience in fleet management, fleet control, or transport operations (linehaul experience highly regarded)
* Strong understanding of general freight operations and interstate transport scheduling
* Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management, and NHVR compliance requirements
* Experience with transport systems is advantageous but not essential
* Excellent organisational, communication, and problem‐solving skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‐paced logistics workplace
