Role details The Child and Youth Mental Health Service at the Mackay Community Health Centre is seeking applications for a Senior Mental Health Clinician (Senior Occupational Therapist or Senior Psychologist or Senior Social Worker or Clinical Nurse Consultant) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity The position of Senior Mental Health Clinician (Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Service) will: Deliver high level professional clinical mental health services as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to optimise psycho-social outcomes for children and young people with severe and complex mental health problems and disorders, and their families and carers.
Provide intensive, developmentally appropriate, community-centred, mental health interventions and ongoing assessment for adolescents who require higher intensity (level and mode of contact and range of interventions/services, including risk assessment, crisis management, and safety planning) treatment, rehabilitation, and support to recover from mental illness.
Deliver assertive outreach to consumer's homes and other community settings.
Minimise the impact of mental illness on adolescents, their family, friends, support people, and carers by providing a range of multi-systemic interventions.
Provide work with the adolescent, and their networks, to develop personal support systems and a sense of self-efficacy and encourage increased participation in their community.
Partner with other primary care and specialist services providers to tailor evidence-informed, community or residential-based treatment interventions to alleviate or treat distressing symptoms and promote recovery.
Partner with other primary care and specialist service providers to assist progression in developmental tasks, which may be arrested secondary to the mental illness.
About the Team The community CYMHS team provides intake, assessment, treatment and case management services to young people (and families) with moderate to severe mental health issues.
The Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Service (AMYOS) team provides intensive treatment and case management services to young people with complex presentations not well suited to the clinic-based model of CYMHS.
Evolve Therapeutic Services provides specialist treatment and case management services to young people who are in the care of Child Safety.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Consultant facilitates our work with First Nations clients.
The Forensic Liaison Officer works with mental health clients who are involved with the justice system or are assessed to be a high risk for violence.
The Court Liaison Officer works with mental health clients who are involved in court processes.
The intake team provide triage, assessment, and brief intervention services.
This team works extended hours (weekdays 8am to 10pm, weekends 1:30pm to 10pm).
The infant mental health clinician works with infants at risk of developing severe mental health problems and their families and carers.
