We are currently seeking a Development Assessment Engineering Officer to join a high-performing local council team. This role sits within the drainage and engineering assessment function, playing a key role in reviewing development applications and supporting infrastructure outcomes across the municipality.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess development application referrals, with a focus on drainage and flooding impacts
* Provide administrative and technical support to the Drainage Development Assessment team
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding development applications
* Monitor and manage incoming DA referrals, ensuring timely processing
* Complete tasks within council systems (TechnologyOne, CM9) accurately and within required timeframes
* Maintain organised and compliant records in line with council procedures
* Respond to enquiries and correspondence within service level timeframes
* Contribute to ongoing improvement of engineering processes and specifications
Essential Requirements
* Degree in Civil Engineering
* Proven experience assessing development applications within a local council environment
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve conflict and negotiate outcomes
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Experience with TechnologyOne, CM9 and GIS systems
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
* Excellent time management, organisation and attention to detail
Desirable
* Experience using the NSW Planning Portal
* Knowledge of relevant planning frameworks, including:
o Development Control Plans (DCPs)
o Local Government Act
