About the Role
We are building a strong 1:1 support team of professional, reliable, and empathetic workers who can support participants living with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health conditions, and complex behavioural needs.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Have minimum 1–2 years of disability support experience
- Very good communication skills, preferably native speakers
- Minimum 1 year of disability sector experience is acceptable for this role
- Be reliable, consistent, and have a strong work ethic
- Provide personal care with dignity, respect, and professionalism
- Have a positive, bubbly, and engaging personality
- Build rapport easily with participants and team members
- Be flexible, resilient, and calm in challenging situations
- Show initiative and actively participate in meetings and training
- Be available for urgent/irregular shifts or on-call needs (where possible)
- Leadership experience is highly valued and may lead to Team Leader opportunities at SL.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, and domestic duties
- Maintaining cleanliness and supporting daily living skills
- Supporting community participation and social engagement
- Completing accurate and detailed progress notes
- Providing emotional support and building positive, professional rapport
- Following behaviour support strategies and maintaining solid boundaries
Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals with mental illness and intellectual disabilities (essential)
- Experience with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) (preferred)
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Minimum 1 - 2 years' experience in the disability sector
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Current National Police Check
- Current Working with Children Check
- Valid Australian Driver's License and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Full working rights in Australia
- 3 COVID-19 vaccinations
- Experience with complex behaviours of concern is required for all positions
Job Type: Casual
Pay: $32.00 – $45.00 per hour
