We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of English to lead our large, dynamic department and help shape an outstanding English programme across the school. About the Role You will oversee a thriving English Department of 22 dedicated staff including part time team members. From 2026 you will be supported by two Assistant Heads of Department, allowing you to focus on strategic leadership, curriculum development, and staff mentoring. The position includes a 0.5 FTE teaching load, ensuring ongoing engagement in high quality classroom practice. This is a full time, permanent position commencing January 2026. Required Experience To be successful in this role: You will need to demonstrate one of the following: • At least two to three years of experience as a Department Leader, such as Head of English, Assistant Head of English, Coordinator or equivalent, • Six to seven years of experience as an English teacher with proven capability to lead, mentor, and innovate. Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and a genuine commitment to student centred learning are essential.
