Glencore Port Operations are currently advertising an opportunity for the position of an Operator Maintainer. Reporting to the Supervisor – Operations, this position is residentially based in Townsville. The role operates on a 4x4 12hr shift roster with additional hours available as required. About the Role
As an Operator Maintainer with Glencore Port Operations, you will support the final link in Glencore's North Queensland supply chain, ensuring mineral concentrates and fertiliser are safely received, stored, and shipped to global markets. You will work on a 4x4 12 hour day and night shift roster and be responsible for operational and basic maintenance activities across port infrastructure. The role offers hands‐on exposure to large scale material handling systems in a heavy industrial environment within a skilled operations team that prioritises safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Safely operate port equipment and facilities to support rail unloading, stockpile management, and ship loading operations
* Perform day-to-day operational tasks associated with handling mineral concentrates and fertiliser products
* Monitor plant and equipment condition, identifying and reporting faults, defects, or abnormal operating conditions
* Assist with routine maintenance activities to support equipment availability and reliability
* Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with site procedures, permits, and safety standards
* Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members to coordinate operational activities
* Support safe start-up, shutdown, and changeovers as required
* Maintain accurate records and complete operational documentation as required
* Housekeep work areas to ensure a clean, organised, and compliant operating environment
* Engage positively with other operational teams, contractors, and service providers to support port operations
The successful candidate will possess
* Self-starting attitude and ability to work well in a team
* Experience in heavy industry will be viewed favourably
* Exposure to material handling operational work
* License in forklift (LF, RIIHAN201D) is preferable
* RIIMPO321F. Wheeled front end loader operations
