We're looking for a Forensic Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. This opportunity is suitable for practitioners with experience and an interest in working within the disability and complex mental health in an adult and youth forensic space.

We seek someone who is genuinely motivated to create meaningful, lasting change in people's lives. You'll work alongside care teams, families, and supporting systems to implement evidence‐based interventions in real‐world settings.

We provide services including clinical and behavioural support, psychology services, clinical supervision, therapy, speech pathology, occupational therapy, cultural consultancy, training and organisational practice and professional development.

SAL Consulting is committed to building diverse, inclusive teams and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

What You'll Be Doing

The position is based in Ringwood and may involve travel around the Melbourne metro area. Opportunities for regional, remote and interstate projects, as well as work from home for administration, are available.

* Conduct forensic assessments, risk assessments, treatment plans and other court‐required documentation.
* Identify appropriate supports, interventions and service models for individuals subject to various orders or at risk of entering the justice system.
* Support individuals transitioning from prison to community living under various frameworks.
* Prepare, write and deliver assessment reports for supporting bodies such as state/territory departments and the NDIS.
* Provide high‐level clinical consulting and engagement in multidisciplinary meetings to lead, guide and offer reflective practice opportunities for teams.
* Consult, train and advise teams directly supporting clients, including disability support workers.
* Collaborate with allied health professionals, mental health professionals and forensic or disability‐specific services.
* Provide behaviour support for clients with complex disabilities and psycho‐social support needs, including development and implementation of behaviour support plans.
* Develop and deliver direct interventions such as offence‐specific and offence‐related interventions.

Essential Requirements

* Tertiary qualification in a related discipline relevant to forensic practice, disability support and/or behaviour support, and registration with the appropriate regulatory board (e.g. AHPRA) or the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
* Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, mental health issues and/or trauma who have complex needs.
* Experience within the forensic field and knowledge of relevant forensic frameworks; experience working under relevant legislative frameworks is desirable.

Mandatory Requirements

* Current Australian Driver's Licence.
* Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening (or the ability to obtain these prior to commencement).

What We Offer

* Flexible working hours and a family‐friendly culture.
* Work from home for administration and report writing.
* Travel allowance included in remuneration for community‐based work.
* Extra week of paid annual leave (on top of the standard 4 weeks annual leave as set out in NES).
* Access to the Flare benefits platform with discounts at Woolworths, Coles, JB Hi‐Fi, Rebel, Airbnb, Fitness First and many more.
* Employee Assistance Program (EAP), access to confidential psychological support and counselling.
* A role with genuine purpose and the scope to shape your own career direction.
* Ongoing professional development and a genuine commitment to growing our team members.
* Opportunity to receive support and supervision to complete Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology or Educational Developmental Psychology endorsement if eligible.

Supervision & Professional Development

* Individualised professional development plans tailored to your goals and interests.
* Monthly internal PD days that are structured, meaningful and grounded in current evidence.
* In‐house supervision tailored to your frequency needs and practice level.
* Discipline‐specific communities of practice including internal peer groups for ongoing learning and connection.
* A robust induction program drawing on 30 years of scientist‐practitioner model behaviour support practice.
* An internal Behaviour Support Practitioner Development Program for holistic, ongoing capability growth.
* Supervision support to pursue Psychology endorsement where eligible.
* Every practice leader and supervisor at SAL maintains their own direct client caseload – so your supervision comes from people who are still in the work.
