Mechanical Engineer (IES Energy Modelling)
An exciting opportunity exists for a Mechanical Engineer with strong IES energy modelling experience to join a leading multidisciplinary building services team, contributing to the design and delivery of a major healthcare development. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in mechanical building services design who is eager to expand their technical expertise and contribute to a complex, large-scale project with a strong sustainability focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver detailed mechanical services design for HVAC, ventilation, and medical gases systems within a large healthcare facility.
- Undertake comprehensive energy modelling and thermal comfort simulations using IES VE to inform sustainable design outcomes and meet Green Star, NABERS, and other compliance targets.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, hydraulic, fire, and sustainability engineers to deliver fully coordinated design documentation.
- Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and interface with architects, clients, and contractors throughout all project stages.
- Prepare design reports, calculations, and specifications to a high technical standard.
- Support senior engineers in managing project delivery schedules, technical quality, and client communications.
- Stay current with evolving building codes, standards, and healthcare-specific design requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3–5 years’ experience in building services consultancy environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with IES VE energy modelling, load analysis, and sustainability assessments (Essential).
- Strong understanding of HVAC system design principles, ductwork and pipework sizing, and mechanical services documentation.
- Familiarity with Green Star and NABERS compliance requirements (healthcare experience highly regarded).
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working on healthcare projects desirable but not essential.
- Proficiency in design software such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
