Want to deliver tech with purpose, with people who care?
Join us in our mission to create solutions that help keep children safe online.
Who are we?
Headquartered in Perth, Australia, Qoria is an ASX-listed global leader in child digital safety technology and services. We operate under the Linewize brand in North America and Asia Pacific, the Smoothwall brand in the UK, the Qustodio brand in EMEA, and Qoria LK in Sri Lanka.
Our solutions are used by schools, school districts, and parental communities to protect children from harmful online content, identify students at risk based on their digital behaviours, and help teachers maintain focus and safe learning environments in the digital classroom. Today, 30,000 schools and 7 million parents rely on our solutions to help keep 25 million children safe across 180 countries worldwide.
What's the Opportunity?
As a Software Engineer, you will help strengthen the quality, reliability, and scalability of our Classroom Management product. You'll collaborate closely with Engineering Managers, product teams, and fellow engineers to design and evolve high‐performance, sustainable services at a global SaaS scale.
You'll play a vital role within our Australian team—contributing your perspective to bring customer requirements to reality, contributing to infrastructure, scale and performance aspects of the product, and building world‐class user interfaces. Your work will have a direct impact on a rapidly growing product globally.
We are also embracing AI as an assistive tool. You will be encouraged to use approved AI tools responsibly to support learning, prototyping, implementation, testing, documentation, and design exploration—while maintaining strong engineering judgment, security awareness, and accountability for production quality.
How we support you (Flexibility & Benefits)
We believe that we do our best work when we feel supported in our professional and personal lives.
* Hybrid Connection: 2–3 days per week expected in our Perth office.
* Flexible Flow: flexible start and end times to coordinate your professional and personal life.
* Family Friendly: a parental leave policy to support our team members during important life transitions.
* Invested in You: an Employee Share Scheme, a Tech Allowance for your home setup, and additional leave days.
What you'll do
* Build and enhance reliable, scalable, and high‐performance backend services.
* Work closely with product and design teams to build intuitive, maintainable user interfaces.
* Make well‐informed engineering trade‐offs, balancing quality, delivery, maintainability, and long‐term product health.
* Collaborate closely with your team to improve engineering practices, code quality, testing, and delivery flow.
* Participate in technical discussions and support long‐term platform improvements.
* Work with product teams to estimate, plan, and deliver meaningful changes.
* Maintain high standards for observability, testing, automation, and operational health.
* Use approved AI tools responsibly to support implementation, testing, refactoring, documentation, prototyping, and design exploration—while remaining accountable for the quality, security, and maintainability of your work.
* Review, test, and refine AI‐assisted output with the same rigor as human‐written code, checking for incorrect assumptions, security risks, weak error handling, missing edge cases, and maintainability concerns.
* Help steward the services you build in production, including debugging, incident support, and continuous improvement.
What you'll bring to the team
* We value transferable skills and diverse experiences; if you don't check every box but are passionate about our mission, we still want to hear from you.
* Engineering Experience: solid hands‐on experience with languages such as Go, Java, or TypeScript.
* Adaptability: a desire to work technology‐agnostically and learn new languages, frameworks, and tools as needed.
* System Design: exposure to designing or operating distributed, cloud‐native systems.
* Quality Focus: a passion for building clean, maintainable, testable solutions with strong attention to correctness, performance, and reliability.
* Collaborative Mindset: a track record of supporting your team, communicating clearly, sharing context, and helping others succeed.
* Pragmatic Delivery: the ability to clarify uncertainty, make realistic commitments, and work with your team to balance scope, quality, and delivery.
* Responsible AI Mindset: experience or curiosity in using approved AI tools as an assistive engineering tool—not as a replacement for engineering judgment. You understand that AI‐generated output must be reviewed, tested, secured, and aligned with team standards before it becomes production work.
* Ownership: a willingness to understand, debug, maintain, and improve the systems you contribute to, including AI‐assisted code.
More Importantly, You'll...
* Deliver tech with purpose: your work has real‐world impact, building safer digital spaces for millions of children globally.
* Belong to a supportive community: we thrive on collaboration, mentorship, and a culture that encourages questioning, idea sharing, and growth.
* Grow in a learning‐first environment: tackle complex global scaling challenges with sustainable pace and continuous learning, while using modern tools responsibly.
* Use AI responsibly and practically: supported by rigorous review, teamwork, and accountability.
* Own your journey: resources and flexibility to build a career you are proud of.
