Program Manager – Gelganyem Land Management
Gelganyem Land Management is seeking an experienced and capable Program Manager to lead day‐to‐day land management operations across seed collection, weed control and related environmental services in the East Kimberley. This is a full‐time, 12‐month fixed‐term role based in Kununurra at our facility at River Farm Road and servicing the surrounding region and Argyle Diamond Mine rehabilitation programme.
This role is well suited to someone with strong operational leadership skills, experience managing field‐based teams, and the ability to work effectively in a cross‐cultural environment while delivering high‐quality environmental outcomes.
About the role
* Lead land management activities including native seed supply, weed control, vegetation surveys and parks and garden maintenance
* Supervise GLM supervisors and field teams to deliver safe, efficient and high‐quality services
* Coordinate operational planning, logistics, reporting, compliance and data management
* Support contracts linked to Argyle Diamond Mine rehabilitation and other regional land management work
* Contribute to the growth and reputation of a trusted Aboriginal land management business in the East Kimberley
Key responsibilities
* Oversee daily delivery of seed collection, seed storage, weed control and other land management activities
* Manage supervisors, support staff capability development and coordinate training where required
* Maintain accurate operational records, field data, reporting and compliance documentation
* Apply GIS, Fulcrum and other systems to support field data collection and program reporting
* Coordinate fleet, plant, equipment and asset management
* Liaise with stakeholders, clients and community members to support strong working relationships
* Ensure work is carried out safely and in line with organisational and client requirements
About you
* Demonstrated experience in project or program management, ideally in land management, environmental services, horticulture, agriculture or related field operations
* Strong people leadership skills and experience supervising teams in remote or regional settings
* Experience working in a cross‐cultural workplace, including with Indigenous employees and communities
* Excellent communication, organisation and reporting skills
* Ability to work outdoors and support physically demanding field operations when required
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
* Intermediate to advanced GIS mapping and field data systems
* C Class WA Driver's Licence and High Risk Work Licence – Forklift
* Desirable experience includes qualifications in conservation and ecosystem management, environment, horticulture or agriculture, knowledge of the East Kimberley region, native seed operations, weed control programmes.
