The Opportunity
We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented
Junior Workday HCM Systems Analyst
to join our People Systems team. In this role, you'll help keep our Workday platform running smoothly by supporting defect resolution, configuration changes, and payroll data integrity.
You'll work across core HR, Payroll, and IT functions, assisting with integrations, testing new features, and contributing to system improvements that enhance the employee experience. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their HR systems or Workday career who enjoys data, problem-solving, and learning how technology supports people processes.
This opportunity is available on a contract basis (6-months).
Responsibilities
* Assist in identifying, logging, and resolving Level 1–2 defects and data issues across Core HCM, Absence, Time Tracking, Recruitment, and Learning.
* Support configuration updates, validate changes in Sandbox Preview, and help promote fixes into Production.
* Maintain accurate ticket information in Jira and collaborate with Payroll, P&C, and IT teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
* Maintain and update Workday business processes (steps, conditions, notifications, approvals) in line with policy.
* Support the maintenance of supervisory organisations, roles, and security groups.
* Assist with weekly payroll cycles—checking data readiness, reconciling payroll-relevant objects, and monitoring interface reports (e.g., ADP).
* Escalate failed extracts or data errors and maintain records of recurring integration tasks.
* Support bi-annual Workday release management—review release notes, assess impact, test features, and assist with cutover activities.
* Partner with stakeholders across P&C, Payroll, IT, and Operations, providing clear communication and light training when supporting change.
* Uphold change control, privacy, and data security standards at all times.
About You
Essential
* 6–12 months' hands-on experience with
Workday
in a support or HR systems role.
* Exposure to
business process configuration
and core HCM data management.
* Experience triaging and progressing issues through a ticketing tool (e.g., Jira).
* Familiarity with
testing processes
(unit, regression, or UAT).
* Understanding of
payroll data flows
and third-party integrations (preferably ADP or similar).
* Basic knowledge of
EIBs, calculated fields, condition rules, reports, and security groups
.
* Awareness of
Workday release cycles
and new feature enablement.
* HR/payroll domain knowledge within the
Australian context
, with strong data privacy awareness.
* Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with high attention to detail.
* A proactive and curious mindset, eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced systems environment.
