Clinical Nurse Specialist – Ophthalmology Theatre

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Ophthalmology Clinical Nurse Specialist – Theatre to join a well-established private hospital on the Gold Coast. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled Perioperative Scrub/Scout Registered Nurse with strong ophthalmology experience to step into a leadership-focused role within a modern surgical environment.
This position offers an excellent work–life balance with a Monday to Friday flexible roster – no on‐call, weekends, public holidays or trauma.
About the Role
Working within a collaborative multi-disciplinary perioperative team, you will support high‐quality surgical care while assisting with team coordination, theatre readiness, and clinical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the nursing team to deliver safe, evidence‐based patient care
* Assist with team rostering, workload management and delegation of tasks
* Support senior leadership with quality activities and procurement
* Ensure the theatre complex and equipment are prepared for surgery
* Maintain strong communication with the surgical team to prioritise patient safety
* Monitor and evaluate patient recovery, addressing any complications
* Provide education and support to patients throughout their recovery
About You
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
* Solid experience as an Ophthalmology Scrub/Scout Nurse in a theatre/perioperative setting
* Strong clinical, technical and problem‐solving skills
* A passion for education, mentoring and leadership
* Postgraduate qualifications in Nursing (desirable)
