Job Position - Chef
We're helping one of our clients to hire chefs at their busy restaurant in Geelong West. The aim would be to deliver a consistent dining experience that ensures our customers are satisfied with their meal experience every time, so we can maintain a healthy repeat customer base.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Planning and revisions for functions and specials menu items considering all feedback from customers and by reference to sales volumes of specific dishes.
* Demonstrating cooking techniques to other/less expert kitchen staff as required and specifically the role of cook.
* Effectively mentoring relevant kitchen staff to ensure they have relevant skills to deliver exceptional customer service.
* Monitoring dish preparation of more junior cooking staff including any trainee cooks and apprentices.
* Cooking and preparing meals to agreed standards.
* Maintaining high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and safety throughout all kitchen areas at all times.
* Creating a harmonious work environment amongst all staff.
* Ensuring all aspects of work, health and safety and operational procedures are always followed, including for suppliers.
* Managing OHS risks and keeping accurate records of all OHS matters.
* Setting appropriate budgets in accordance with parameters agreed by the business owners in relation to menu items over which the role has responsibilities.
* Estimate food purchasing requirements to optimise profitability while ensuring we can cater to varying seasonal demands and not run out of food.
* Meeting or exceeding agreed budgets whilst maintaining the highest standards for consistency, quality, food production, presentation, and service.
* Ensuring ongoing compliance with legislation including HACCP requirements and established business policies and procedures.
* Minimising food costs, waste, and theft.
* Other key performance indicators will be set from time to time as agreed, considering Management and business objectives.
Qualifications required
* Trade qualified to Diploma in Cookery or higher.
* Experience in menu planning and costing.
* Previous experience of at least 3 years as a Chef.

* Excellent knowledge and experience in all basic techniques and styles.
* A solid background in utilising fresh local ingredients.
* Knowledge of all food safety standards.
* A good understanding of all financials running a kitchen.
* A professional attitude in the kitchen at all times.
* A love and passion for developing great nutritious food.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Salary
Attractive Salary between $76,000 to $79,000 per annum plus superannuation.
