We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Product Development Engineer to join our Technical Services team. This is a meaningful technical role with direct impact on product performance, yield and profitability.
This position reports to the Technical Services Manager and is offered on a full-time basis. Flexibility in working arrangements can be considered.
Responsibilities
Research & Development
* Lead idea and concept development for new timber products based on market requirements
* Plan and execute pilot and full‐scale production trials capturing process and quality data to validate performance and manufacturability
* Develop and maintain prototypes, test rigs, tooling and trial protocols
Technical
* Evaluate and introduce new technologies, automation opportunities and process enhancements
* Analyse results with statistical methods and drive correction actions to support production processes
* Provide technical training and support to team members
Compliance & Safety
* Ensure compliance with AS/NZS timber standards, environmental regulations and WHS requirements
* Liaise with and coordinate with research institutions and industry bodies on technical matters
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Structural or Civil)
* Experience in research & development in a manufacturing environment
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills
* Competent with data analysis (Excel)
* Experience with production data systems is advantageous
* Knowledge of advanced manufacturing technology
