About Destination North Coast

Destination North Coast (DNC) is one of seven Destination Networks established by the NSW Government to drive the growth of the visitor economy across regional NSW. DNC works closely with Destination NSW and local industry stakeholders to develop, promote and sustain the North Coast visitor economy.

Our vision is for the North Coast to be world-renowned for thriving, sustainable visitor experiences that celebrate our nature and culture.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Communications Manager (Independent Contractor) to lead DNC’s corporate communications, social media and digital storytelling.

Working remotely under your own ABN, you will manage and deliver DNC’s communications activities, including newsletters, website updates, media releases and social media. You’ll develop a coordinated content calendar that leverages DNC’s events, industry milestones and tourism initiatives to enhance our profile and engage key stakeholders.

This is a part-time, flexible role (10 hours per week)—ideal for a communications professional looking for meaningful, autonomous work in the regional tourism sector.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and deliver a communications calendar aligned to DNC’s strategic priorities.
- Manage and grow DNC’s social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram and others as relevant).
- Write, edit and publish engaging content across digital, media and newsletter channels.
- Assist in maintaining DNC’s website (WordPress or similar CMS).
- Collaborate with the General Manager and team to identify and promote key messages.
- Build relationships with regional media and prepare press releases.

About You

You’re a confident communicator with exceptional writing skills and an eye for detail. You thrive in a flexible work setting and are comfortable managing multiple priorities.

Essential Criteria

- Demonstrated experience in communications or digital media.
- Excellent writing, editing and content creation skills.
- Experience managing social media and developing engaging digital content.
- Familiarity with WordPress (or similar CMS), Mailchimp, Meta Business Suite and Canva.
- Robust organisational skills and ability to work independently.
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing or related fields, or equivalent experience preferred.

Desirable

- Ability to create short-form video content for digital and social use.
- Experience in the tourism or regional development sector.

Contract Details

- Independent contractor engagement (must hold a current ABN).
- 10 hours per week – flexible working arrangement.
- Remote role with occasional travel within the North Coast region.
