Overview

Agency: Central Regional TAFE – Kalgoorlie WA

We are establishing an appointment pool for Hospitality and Commercial Cookery vacancies that arise up to 29 April 2027. Appointments will be made on a casual basis. Suitable candidates will be placed in the appointment pool from which opportunities may be offered as vacancies arise. Candidates found suitable through this process may be offered appointment to similar and subsequent vacancies within the College, within other TAFE Colleges or across WA Government (subject to candidate permission being granted). If the appointment pool is exhausted prior to the pool expiry date, we reserve the right to supplement the pool through further advertising.

About the TAFE Central Regional TAFE is responsible for delivering customer focused, industry aligned training and pathways to higher education to build a skilled, productive and employment ready workforce. We deliver 185 courses to 10,000 students each year in the Mid West region – Geraldton, Batavia Coast Maritime Institute and Technology Park, the Gascoyne region – Carnarvon and Exmouth, the Goldfields region – Kalgoorlie and the Wheatbelt region - Northam, Merredin and Moora.

Role

About the role A lecturer's primary role is to teach, facilitate learning and conduct assessment in traditional, contemporary and industry-relevant ways to a diverse range of students. Lecturers will also be involved in supporting industry engagement, providing information to prospective students and employers, and promoting training pathways within the hospitality and commercial cookery sector.

To support this process, the TAFE environment offers comprehensive industry-based Training Packages and an underpinning quality system that provides a framework for delivery, assessment and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have at minimum a Certificate III Commercial Cookery, or Certificate III Hospitality or above (or equivalent). The successful applicant will also have at least 5 years of vocational or lecturing experience relevant to this position with an ability to facilitate and encourage learning.

There is a minimum qualification required to deliver accredited vocational education and training (VET) as defined by the Registration Standards 2025 (2025 Standards), or its successors. The current minimum qualification required is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116, or TAE40110), or a secondary teaching qualification with an Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00011, TAESS00019, or TAESS00024).

To work for the College, you may be required to hold Australian or Australian equivalent qualification(s). If your qualification has been obtained overseas, the Overseas Qualifications Unit (OQU) offers a free assessment service to have your tertiary or higher education qualification(s) recognised.
