Senior Environmental Scientist – Impact Assessments
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Environmental Scientist – Impact Assessment to join our dynamic Setting and Geosciences team. You’ll be part of a nationally connected group of environmental experts spanning Impact Assessment, Approvals, Ecology, Sustainability, Coastal, Contaminated Land and services, working on diverse and impactful projects across New South Wales and the Asia Pacific Region. This role can be based in our Sydney or Wollongong office, with flexible work arrangements tailored to your lifestyle – including work from home, staggered hours and additional purchased leave options. Day To Day Tasks
- Lead the preparation of environmental approvals documentation, including impact assessments and management plans, aligned with NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical input into studies and major projects as appropriate.
- Develop high‑quality technical reports that support project outcomes.
- Liaise with clients and regulators to ensure project objectives are met.
- Draw on existing client relationships and build new client relationships to further develop our New South Wales business.
- Lead and prepare proposal documentation.
- Assist in business development activities to support business growth. Ensure financial outcomes of assignments are achieved through effective project management.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary and cohesive team to successfully deliver environmental approvals services to our clients, across a wide range of sectors.
- Foster a culture of excellence and mentorship, supporting the growth of junior team members.
To Be Successful For This Role You’ll Need
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Planning, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- In‑depth knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation and standards.
- Proven experience in preparing regulatory approvals for infrastructure, renewables and industrial projects.
- Strong project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- Professional standards of technical report writing.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and lead project teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
- A proactive, solutions‑focused attitude.
