Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to play a vital role in maintaining Council's fleet, plant and equipment. This position is essential to ensuring optimal reliability, safety, and availability across our operations, supporting efficient service delivery to internal teams and the broader community.
Responsibilities
* Diagnose, service, repair, and inspect a diverse range of fleet and plant equipment.
* Work independently and as part of a small team, contributing to minimising downtime while maintaining a strong focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* Trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic with diesel experience desirable
* Minimum 5 years post-trade experience in a mechanical role with proven hands-on expertise
* Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
* Strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and mentoring capabilities
* Commitment to delivering high-quality service with a community focus
* Class C car license
* White Card
* Class LF forklift licence
Desirable
* Class MR Medium Rigid truck license
* Heavy Rigid Licence (or the ability to attain)
* Knowledge of asset management systems (fleet)
* Knowledge and understanding of invoice checking and processing procedures
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in welding fabrication processes
Position Details
* Permanent, full time 76 hours fortnight
* Annual salary: $77,625
