Offer description

Staff Specialist in General Medicine – Manning Base Hospital
Advertising closes 18 January ****.
We are searching for a dedicated and experienced General Physician to join the collaborative and well-established team in Taree. This role is split between 0.5FTE General Medicine, allowing you to provide services to inpatients on admitting general wards, ICU, HDU and Emergency Department patients, and 0.5FTE with sub-specialty availability in Cardiology, Geriatric Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, or Neurology.
"Twenty years ago, when I joined Manning Base Hospital in Taree, I was searching for a place to grow professionally and serve meaningfully. I found not only strong institutional support to build a comprehensive Nephrology service, but also an environment of exceptional collaboration across medical teams. The hospital has enabled both personal and professional development far beyond what I might have achieved in a larger city. With supportive management, friendly and collegial staff, and upcoming upgrades like a new inpatient building and a transition to digital patient records, Manning Base continues to evolve as an ideal place to work."
We're Looking For Someone Who
Is a dedicated medical professional, passionate about providing high-quality, patient-centred care.
Advocates strongly for patients, their department, and the broader community.
Thrives in a collaborative environment and values being part of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrates a genuine commitment to improving patient outcomes and supporting the unique needs of rural and regional communities.
What We Can Offer You
This is an opportunity to work for one of the largest local health districts in NSW, servicing a population of more than 900,000 across the Hunter, New England and Lower Mid North Coast areas. HNELHD has strong, innovative connections with the University of Newcastle and the Hunter Medical Research Institute. Working with HNE gives you access to a great range of benefits:
Sustainable Healthcare: Together towards zero.
Fitness Passport.
Salary Packaging – up to $9,000 for living expenses and $2,600 for meals and entertainment.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for staff and family members.
Opportunity to work and collaborate with a range of non-clinical and clinical professionals.
About The Region
Living in Taree is incredibly rewarding. It's a family-friendly, multicultural community with excellent schools, a local TAFE, and the University of Newcastle's clinical school. The lack of traffic, affordable housing, and added university entry points for local students all contribute to a high quality of life. Manning Base Hospital has been more than a workplace – it's been a career-defining experience in a welcoming, low-stress regional setting. I wholeheartedly recommend it to any medical professional seeking growth and balance.
