MID TIER SOLICITOR – 2–3 YEARS PQE (MINOR CRIMINAL LAW) – ADELAIDE
Women's Legal Service (SA) is seeking a legal practitioner with 2–3 years post‐admission experience, including demonstrated experience in minor criminal law, to join our dynamic and fast‐paced legal practice. The role is suited to someone who can work collaboratively and provide support across the legal and support services teams, including basic court attendances and file work.

WLSSA also undertakes legal advocacy, contributing to law reform and policy discussions, and provides community legal education across all practice areas.
Role Responsibilities
* Provide legal information and advice to women who do not have a solicitor.
* Undertake minor criminal law casework, including advice, negotiations, and representation where appropriate.
* Provide assistance in relation to Intervention Orders, both private orders and police‐issued.
* Provide casework assistance and representation across other relevant practice areas as required.
* Attend court, mediations, and tribunals for matters within scope.
* Travel to rural, regional, and remote locations across South Australia (driver's licence essential), and interstate when required.
* Participate in training, conferences, and professional development.
* Prepare and deliver Community Legal Education sessions on criminal law and other practice areas.
* Support colleagues across the legal team and contribute to a positive team culture.
* Attend strategic planning days, staff meetings, and provide feedback to Senior Management regarding community demand.
* Travel to WLSSA regional offices in Mount Gambier and Port Augusta to support service delivery.
Selection Criteria
* Qualifications: A tertiary legal qualification and eligibility to obtain an unrestricted practising certificate, with more than two years post‐admission experience, including experience in minor criminal law.
* High‐level written and oral communication skills, with the ability to advocate and negotiate effectively, particularly with clients experiencing trauma or high levels of stress.
* Ability to maintain precise, accurate, and timely client records and files.
* Experience representing clients in court, mediations, and tribunals.
* Demonstrated capacity to manage moderate to high file loads, competing deadlines, and casework demands.
* Exceptional time‐management and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Understanding of trauma‐informed practice and multidisciplinary service delivery, particularly in the context of domestic and family violence and sexual assault.
* Experience working with vulnerable women, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, CALD women, and women living with disabilities or trauma.
* Ability to work collaboratively with partner organisations and contribute to a positive team culture.
* Willingness to contribute to policy and law reform, including preparation of submissions, reports, and commentaries relevant to women's issues.
* Demonstrated commitment to achieving justice for women.
* A current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel.
