Your New Role

This is a high-impact Senior Legal Counsel role within our Legal & Company Secretariat team, partnering across the enterprise to provide commercially focused legal advice and governance support at scale.
Reporting to the Head of Legal – Member, you'll play a critical role advising across key areas including superannuation, insurance, managed investments, and financial advice supporting decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation, including the Board and Executive.

You'll operate as a trusted advisor, balancing legal risk with commercial outcomes, while driving best practice in governance, compliance, and legal operations across the business.

In this role, you will:

* Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across corporate and financial services matters
* Review and negotiate a broad range of legal documents (contracts, SLAs, disclosure and regulatory documents)
* Support Board, Committee and entity governance, including Secretariat activities
* Lead engagement with external legal providers and oversee litigated matters and regulatory engagements
* Drive a strong risk and compliance culture aligned to enterprise frameworks
* Partner with senior stakeholders across the business, influencing and guiding decision-making
* Contribute to developing team capability and leading collaborative, high-performing ways of working

How do you exceed our expectations?

* You're a qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Australia, with current practicing certificate
* You have strong experience in financial services and/or corporate commercial law
* You have working knowledge of superannuation law, Corporations Act, and AFSL regulatory requirements
* You have proven ability to manage complex legal issues and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
* You have strong stakeholder management and influencing capability at senior levels
* You'repragmatic, have a solutions-focused mindset with sound commercial judgement
* You have exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate legal complexity into clear, actionable advice
