Heritage Park Caretaker and Park Operations Gardener Roles
The Position
The Shire of Manjimup is seeking a motivated and reliable Caretaker to assist with the maintenance, presentation, and day‐to‐day upkeep of the Manjimup Heritage Park, ensuring the precinct remains safe, welcoming, and well maintained for community and visitor use. This role is responsible for:
* Maintaining existing gardens, grounds and bushland areas to an agreed standard.
* Assisting in the development of new gardens and facilities.
* Cleaning, maintaining and inspecting park amenities, including BBQ facilities, signage, furniture and playground equipment.
* Conducting daily inspections of park grounds and playgrounds to identify and report hazards and public safety concerns.
* Maintaining buildings, exhibits and other structures within the Heritage Park.
* Maintaining good community relationships and reporting vandalism, safety concerns and other issues as required.
The Person
To be successful in this role you will need:
* Demonstrated skills in general maintenance, gardening, and general maintenance duties.
* Experience operating and maintaining small plant equipment safely and effectively.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively with minimal supervision.
* A high level of attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe, clean and well‐presented environment.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
PARK OPERATIONS GARDENER - Experienced and Entry‐level friendly position!
Full‐Time, $72,307 per annum (plus entitlements) or opportunity for entry‐level position with relevant training ($66,200 per annum)
The Position
The Shire of Manjimup is seeking either a motivated, experienced and suitably qualified individual to take on the role of Gardener, or a motivated person willing to undertake the necessary training to commence in an entry‐level Gardener position within our Parks Operations team. This role is responsible for, but not limited to:
* Maintaining areas within parks, gardens and along verges throughout the Shire.
* Operating and maintaining plant items and the various associated hand tools and equipment, in accordance with Council Policy and procedures.
* Undertaking daily maintenance of plant and machinery including the reporting of problems or faults.
* Completing high‐quality garden works with routine direction including recognising faults and defects.
* Providing short‐term relief supervision to the Property Care Team as required.
Ideal Candidate
* Basic knowledge of turf and tree management including fertilisers, pesticide and other applications.
* Ability to work under limited supervision and as part of a team.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* Completion/progression towards relevant qualification in horticulture, turf management or recognised equivalent experience.
Gardener (Entry Level) Selection Criteria
* Ability to work under limited supervision and as part of a team.
* Ability to undertake physical work including lifting.
* Good organisational and time management skills.
* A willingness to undertake the necessary training across fields of horticulture, relevant equipment uses, construction and safety.
* Current LR class drivers' licence or willingness to obtain.
