As a Mechanical Engineer I, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical ground support equipment (GSE) at our launch site in Bowen, Queensland.
* Design and analyze mechanical aspects of GSE using CAD and FEA software
* Support design and development of mechanical GSE to aid integration and testing of mechanical systems
* Review specifications and data, integrate mechanical packages, and produce O&M documentation for new equipment
* Create drawings, calculations, reports, and project documentation to support design, test, construction, and commissioning of new and upgraded mechanical GSE
* Lead and support commissioning of mechanical systems by developing written procedures and checklists for performing test & commissioning operations
* Fault find and perform rectification of mechanical GSE
* Coordinate fabrication, assembly, and integration of mechanical GSE
* Support launch preparations and launch operations as needed
* Operate and maintain ground support structure equipment for the Bowen Orbital Spaceport
Required qualifications and skills include:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or Structural Engineering
* 1+ years of mechanical or structural design and drafting experience, including internships or personal projects
* NV1 Security Clearance eligibility preferred
Desired qualifications and skills include:
* Ability to use 3D and 2D CAD to manage large assembly models and drawings
* Solid understanding and application of fluids and mechanisms
* Ability to work well in an integrated team, including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers
* Creative problem solver who can bring multiple disciplines together
* Self-motivated with strong multi-tasking, organisational, communication, and documentation skills
* Works well under pressure
