Overview
Merri-bek City Council has a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Accountant to join our Finance team. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, is full-time on a maximum term basis ending 30 June 2027 (based on 35 hours per week), with a fortnightly RDO. The position provides exposure across management accounting, financial accounting and revenue services, and is suited to someone currently undertaking tertiary studies or recently graduated. Previous experience in a high-activity role with strong interpersonal, email and written communication skills will be well regarded, along with a commitment to customer service and attention to detail.
Salary range: $86k - $97k + Super.
There is also the ability to transfer or take Long Service Leave within Local Government as part of the role package.
Responsibilities
* Learn and work across all aspects of the Finance Unit, including management accounting, financial accounting and revenue services.
Skills And Experience Require To Perform The Role
* Working towards a tertiary qualification in accounting or commerce (majoring in accounting) or recently completed
* Entry-level finance experience is highly desirable but not essential
* Intent to start working towards CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia
* Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
* Strong commitment to customer service
* Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
* Excellent administrative skills
* Good level of skill with computer operating systems
* Ability to demonstrate conceptual, problem-solving and analytical skills
* Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
* Understanding of long-term unit goals and the wider organisational goals
