We are a small family‑owned and fully‑refurbished supermarket seeking an experienced Perishables Manager who is able to drive their departments with effective ordering and attractive display and merchandising skills.
Our existing Perishables Manager is relocating overseas and will be providing an extended handover and training on our ordering, allocations, ticketing and food safety systems.
Responsibilities
* Manage the daily operations of perishables departments, including Meat, Dairy/Deli, Bakery and Freezer.
* Manage and train up to 2 staff involved in executing daily duties and working hands‑on in the departments.
* Review weekly sales and ensure all orders are within budget.
* Control stock levels, carry out daily markdowns and minimise shrinkage across departments while responding to any issues proactively.
* Maintain Food Safety practices and temperature/scale/tare checks.
* Submit claims for damaged or short‑coded stock and mispicks and follow up credit notes.
* Liaise with suppliers for best outcomes for customers and the business.
* Ensure ranging is fresh and attractive with a choice of products to suit shopper needs.
* Handle weekly catalogue, allocations and manager’s specials ticketing and merchandising ensuring displays reflect the season.
Qualifications
* Strong leadership skills while being a team player.
* Proficient in supermarket back‑office software (SmartRetail and Last Yard preferred).
* Excellent time management and communication skills to ensure efficiency in executing tasks.
* Competent in managing financial targets and inventory.
* Able to work a minimum of 38 hours a week full‑time, Sunday to Thursday (6:15 am start time).
* A proven background in the retail supermarket sector.
Salary: circa $65,000 per annum plus superannuation and Retail Award loading for public holidays.
