Second Chef - Calm, Professional Healthcare Kitchen
Location: Mt Eliza, VIC
Salary: Circa $75K - $80K + Super (depending on experience)
Roster: Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 10:00am - 6:30pm
Cater Care is seeking a passionate and reliable Second Chef to support the Head Chef at a wellness and mental health facility in Mt Eliza.
This is not your typical high‐pressure kitchen role. Our site operates within a healthcare environment, where food is an important part of wellbeing, comfort, recovery, and routine.
We're looking for a chef who brings both strong cooking skills and a calm, supportive approach to the kitchen. Someone who values consistency, teamwork, and creating meals that genuinely make people feel cared for.

Key Responsibilities
* Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including coordination of staff, rosters, and training
* Undertake hands‐on cooking across bulk meal preparation and tray service
* Prepare high‐volume meals to specification with consistent quality, presentation, and timing
* Manage stock control, ordering, rotation, cost management, and waste reduction
* Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, WHS, and cleanliness standards
* Support clear communication between Kitchen and Front of House to ensure smooth service delivery
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
* Previous experience as a Chef or Second Chef in high‐volume institutional or healthcare catering
* Current driver's licence, reliable transport, and valid Australian work rights
Professional Requirements
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain on commencement)
* Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace standards in a healthcare environment
* Clear, respectful communication and ability to support team coordination
