Head of Account Management
National Leadership Role | Melbourne-based | Freight Management
This is a high-impact leadership prospect with a well-known, reputable and innovative Australian freight management business — a specialist firm that sits at the intersection of technology, carrier relationships, and end-to-end supply chain solutions. Operating nationally, they have built a strong book of enterprise and mid-market clients and are now investing in the capability needed to take their Account Management function to the next level. The business is commercially sharp, operationally focused, and led by a hands‑on executive team that backs its people. This is not a maintenance role. It is a platform to lead, build, and leave a mark.
Reporting directly to the executive leadership team, you will take ownership of a national account management team and be responsible for the performance, retention, and profitable growth of the existing customer portfolio. You will inherit a team with real capability and a client base worth developing further. Your role is to tighten the commercial discipline, sharpen the engagement model, and build a high-performance function that operates proactively rather than reactively.
Day to day
* Leading, coaching, and holding a national AM team accountable to commercial and service outcomes
* Owning portfolio revenue, margin, retention, and growth — with clear visibility on what’s working and what isn’t
* Driving a consistent, structured engagement model across QBRs, account reviews, and customer visits
* Identifying leakage, upsell opportunities, and renewal risks before they become problems
* Acting as the senior escalation point on complex customer issues and driving cross‑functional resolution
* Collaborating closely with BDM leadership and operational teams to drive sales growth across both new and existing customer bases

* Driven by outcomes — yours, your team’s, and your customers’
* Experience in transport, freight, logistics, or supply chain is highly regarded. If you’ve operated in or around carrier networks, customer freight profiles, or managed accounts in a 3PL or freight management context — that’s a genuine advantage.
* Some prior exposure to team leadership is essential.
