Reporting directly to the Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our day‐to‐day financial functions, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to the overall success of the organisation.
This is a full‐time, on‐site position.
The Role
As Assistant Accountant, you will provide essential operational support, maintain accurate transactional records, and assist with financial reporting and reconciliations. This is a diverse role offering a mix of routine tasks and ad‐hoc projects, allowing you to utilise your initiative and grow your accounting career.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports, and board packages.
* Analysis & Forecasting: Monitor and analyse financial data, track variances (with a focus on operating and personnel costs), and gather data for forecasts.
* Month‐End & Reconciliations: Support month‐end processes, including journal preparation, transactional reviews, and general ledger reconciliations.
* Core Accounting: Perform day‐to‐day accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) duties.
* Payroll Support: Process payroll transactions and maintain compliant payroll records.
* Audit & Compliance: Assist with audit preparation, contribute documentation, and ensure day‐to‐day transactional accounting complies with Australian standards and industry guidelines.
* Stakeholder Management: Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to efficiently resolve financial or invoicing queries.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Strong proven experience in an accounting or accounts officer role.
* Solid knowledge of Australian tax laws.
* Proficiency with accounting software, preferably Netsuite and Employment Hero.
* Previous experience within the Aged Care sector is highly advantageous.
