Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Leader to oversee and coordinate all medical department operations and occupational health services at our mining operations. The successful candidate will support the efficient administration of the medical department, ensure compliance with company health standards, coordinate wellness initiatives, and contribute to a safe and healthy work environment for employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the site medical department and medical personnel.
* Ensure effective delivery of occupational health and emergency medical services.
* Develop and implement health policies, procedures, and wellness programs.
* Coordinate medical emergency preparedness and response activities.
* Monitor workplace health risks and support injury prevention initiatives.
* Maintain compliance with local health regulations and company standards.
* Manage medical records, reporting, and confidential health information.
* Coordinate employee medical examinations and fitness‐for‐work assessments.
* Collaborate with HSE, HR, and operational departments on health‐related matters.
* Supervise medical supplies, equipment, and clinic operations.
* Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees on health and safety practices.
* Develop and achieve the annual department budget.
* Provide technical and medical support in the management of sick leave as part of the sick leave management program.
Ideal Candidate
* Master's Degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Occupational Health, Human Resources, or a related field.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in department coordination, healthcare administration, occupational health support, or a similar role including 5 years in a leadership role.
* Experience in mining, industrial, or remote‐site environments is an asset.
* Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and medical reporting systems.
* Experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
* Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
* Strong problem‐solving skills and ability to make critical decisions.
* Willingness to work at our Brokopondo mine site on a rotational schedule (14/5 days on, 7/2 days off).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both Dutch and English.
Working Conditions
The position is mainly based at the mine site in Brokopondo and involves both office and field responsibilities in a remote mining environment, with occasional extended hours as required to support operational and emergency needs while complying with all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
