Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking a Part-time Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Surgical Ward team on Level 1. Casual roles may also be available to the right applicants.
You'll be based primarily on our specialty vascular/cardiothoracic ward; however, you will have the ability to pick up shifts across the other ward areas as these become available, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills further.

As Registered Nurse (Vascular & Cardiothoracic) your responsibilities will include:
* Undertake acute nursing care in accordance with legislation
* Deliver evidence-based nursing care
* Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team
* Ensure patient and staff safety
* Supervise, direct and guide nursing team members; Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and (AINs) to deliver patient care
* Proactively assess the perioperative nursing care provided to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for the individual / patient
* Complete all required documentation in accordance with local and National Policies
Essential Criteria:
* Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
* Current valid Australian Work rights
* Demonstrated experience working within an acute surgical setting
* Demonstrated exposure to Vascular / Cardiac nursing
* Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement initiative using research principles to support evidence-based practice, including development of policies and guidelines.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a supportive team.
* Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised patient centred care
* Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations;
* Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to learn new skills.
* Flexibility to a seven-day roster including night duty
Desirable Criteria
* Minimum of 2 years' relevant post registration qualifications
