Mental Health and Other Drugs Service New Graduate Occupational Therapist
The Continuing Care Services Program at the Mackay Community Health Centre is seeking applications for a Mental Health and Other Drugs Service New Graduate Occupational Therapist to join their team on a temporary basis.
* The Allied Health Mental Health Network and Other Drugs Service (MHAODS) New Graduate Program is a two-year (24 month) graduate training program specifically for allied health new graduates in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, and Psychology with less than two years of post‐qualifying experience. It comprises three main components: work‐based experiential learning, formalised education and training, and supervision and profession‐specific support.
* The program requires participants to rotate through four clinical settings over the two‐year period. Further information on the clinical settings is available in the Allied Health MHAODS New Graduate Program Recruitment Prospectus. Participation in supervision, education, and training is required for clinical competence and capability.
* Working with other allied health graduates in multidisciplinary teams, the graduate Occupational Therapist will provide discipline‐specific and mental health and/or Alcohol and Other Drugs Services (AODS) clinical services commensurate with their level of experience and training. Services will be delivered within evidence‐based practice, recovery, and harm‐minimisation frameworks, collaboratively with consumers, families/carers, and stakeholders to implement goals that optimize psychosocial outcomes and facilitate recovery from mental illness and AODS use.
* Provide mental health case‐management services to clients with chronic and/or severe mental illness, including assessment, intervention, treatment, and group work as required, in accordance with professional standards and legislation (Mental Health Act 2016; State and National plans and policies).
