Project
The East Rockingham Waste to Energy project is a 300,000-tonne per annum waste-to-energy facility under construction in Rockingham.
On completion, the facility will provide a cost-effective waste treatment solution and a vital source of dispatchable renewable energy, achieving 96% diversion of residual waste from landfill.
Position
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to focus on the Waste Boiler and Auxiliaries system.
The engineer will develop, implement, and oversee integrated commissioning plans, ensuring alignment with project timelines and performance targets.
Duties include functional tests, cold and hot commissioning, system tuning, and performance validation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and oversee detailed commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules for the Boiler and Auxiliaries.
Conduct and supervise functional tests, cold and hot commissioning, system tuning, and performance validation to achieve optimal emissions control and operational efficiency.
Participate in mechanical completion inspections and walkdowns, verifying equipment installations and readiness for commissioning.
Lead commissioning of all Boiler and auxiliary systems.
Manage and coordinate with OEM vendors, subcontractors, and engineering teams to ensure timely execution and resolution of technical issues.
Identify, analyse, and resolve technical and operational issues related to Waste Crane, Ram Feeder, Grate Moving, CCS, CCS+, Rapping system, and Hydraulic system.
Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, risk assessments, and industry standards.
Track system performance, analyse data, and generate detailed reports on commissioning progress and operational improvements.
Provide technical guidance and training to plant operators and maintenance teams during transition to full-scale operations.
Required Skills and Competencies
Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering.
8+ years of experience in commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Waste Boiler Technology and Auxiliaries.
Experience in managing mechanical completion walkdowns and plant handover processes.
Previous experience coordinating with OEM vendors, EPC contractors, and multidisciplinary teams in large-scale power or energy projects.
Proficiency in preparing commissioning procedures, test plans, reports, and plant documentation.
Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and plant operators.
