We are currently searching for an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to support our Southeast Region located in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Chipley, or Tallahassee, FL .
To be considered for this position, applicants musthave, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
What you’ll be doing:
* Perform assignments requiring knowledge and application of structural engineering principles
* Projects may include design and repair of highway bridges and retaining walls, bridge load ratings, review of working drawings and cost estimating
* Analyze structures using various structural engineering software programs
* Prepare or check structural calculations and details of structural elements for various materials, predominantly steel and concrete
* Prepare structural drawings in Open Bridge, MicroStation and AutoCAD
* Coordinate with other disciplines such as roadway and drainage to perform checks of documents for conformance to structural drawings
* Work collaboratively as part of our Structures Team
What you need to have:
* B.S. in Civil Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
* 5 - 10 years of engineering experience in bridge design
* Recent experience in steel and/or concrete bridge design
* PE required
* FDOT experience required
* Familiarity with bridge design and analysis software such as Open Bridge and/or Leap Bridge, CSI Bridge, AASHTO BrR, other bridge analysis software
* Experience with preparing drawings in Open Bridge, Microstation, and/or AutoCAD
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
* Valid driver’s license.
* A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
