Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania's largest hospital. The Haematology Department within RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all haematology and haemostasis testing in Tasmania. The department works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.
Role
* Oversee and coordinate daily operations and staff within the Haematology and Coagulation sections of the Core Laboratory.
* Perform routine and specialised diagnostic pathology tests with accurate and full documentation of results and reports.
* Interpret laboratory results, ensuring all result and process verification procedures are complied with, and liaise with the requesting medical and nursing staff as appropriate.
Required Skills and Experience
* Demonstrated practical experience and theoretical knowledge relevant to diagnostic haematology and coagulation testing and interpretation of results.
* Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including the ability to organise, plan and coordinate staff and oversee the daily operations of a pathology laboratory.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the regulatory and accreditation requirements relevant to Haematology and Coagulation testing and a proven capability to implement and/or maintain such requirements.
Employment Details
Permanent full‐time day worker position, 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary
$117,272 to $126,182 per annum. The employer will also contribute 12% superannuation. Salary range is in accordance with the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025.

Eligibility
* Tertiary qualification or program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Science, Applied Science or equivalent, from a recognised institution.
* Eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body such as the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, or other recognised bodies.
* Professional and management skills as listed in the Required Skills and Experience.
Desirable Criteria
* Relevant postgraduate qualifications in the field of activity of the Department.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and evidence of ongoing professional contribution.
* Demonstrated management and communication skills.
