News Corp is offering an exciting opportunity for the role of Political Reporter for The Sunday Telegraph, based in Canberra. In this role you will source, write and produce compelling, exclusive multimedia journalism that will reach millions of Australians.
Responsibilities
* Identify and develop stories across a range of topics that are relevant and engaging, producing accurate, clean copy.
* Drive subscription growth for the print and digital masthead and increase traffic to the website.
* Lead and inspire digital content through story development of the highest quality.
* Use data analytics to find new trends and track content performance, delivering stories that inspire, inform and engage the community.
* Build genuine connections across the political arena and maintain a genuine interest in public policy and the contest of ideas.
* Harness the many storytelling tools digital offers (interactives, video, graphics).
Qualifications
* Previous writing and newsroom experience is essential, along with an understanding of politics and the law‐making process.
* Preferably you have a network from your community and either live in Canberra or can commute during federal parliamentary sittings. Excellent interviewing skills and natural curiosity to uncover impactful stories.
* A strict attention to detail and excellent spelling and grammar.
* SEO and social media experience is an advantage.
* Comfortable working in a fast‐paced, deadline‐driven environment.
* Passionate about advocating and being the voice of the community.
