Administration and Stock Control Assistant
Simulus is seeking an Administration and Stock Control Assistant to join our team in Welshpool.
This hands‐on, varied role supports day‐to‐day administration, purchasing, stock control, and general site coordination. It will suit a highly focused individual with good judgement, strong initiative and a practical approach.
This is a full‐time position working standard office hours to ensure consistent coverage for site coordination, deliveries and phone enquiries.
About the role
Reporting to the Metallurgical Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in keeping our site running smoothly. This position is ideal for someone who can work independently, spot what needs attention, and manage tasks through to completion.
There is scope to take on broader responsibilities over time, particularly across document control and system improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
* Manage day‐to‐day office administration, including answering phones, greeting visitors, coordinating couriers, and maintaining office and kitchen supplies.
* Oversee the end‐to‐end on‐site purchasing process by raising purchase orders, tracking deliveries and reconciling invoices for timely approval.
* Help structure, review and maintain an organised stock control system; conduct routine stocktakes on laboratory consumables and maintain an efficient tracking system.
* Coordinate external trades and service providers for routine building maintenance and facility‐related tasks.
* Assist with site safety coordination, including updating incident registers, distributing minutes for safety meetings and completing routine compliance checks such as breathing apparatus inspections.
* Assist with urgent local procurement and ad‐hoc tasks as required.
* Support the team with basic document control, including formatting, spell‐checking and tracking updates for safety and laboratory procedures and registers.
About you
We are looking for an organised, self‐directed individual who brings a focused, practical approach to their work. Ideally, you will have:
* Minimum 1‐2+ years' experience in an administration, stock control, or similar operational support role.
* Strong organisational skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks.
* Clear written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative team focus.
* Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to pick up new internal business systems quickly.
* The capability to build and maintain Excel spreadsheets to help bring structure and definition to stock tracking.
* A current driver's licence and reliable transport to complete local purchasing runs as required.
