The Role
The ABC is looking for a Multiplatform Producer to help drive ambitious, agenda‐setting journalism across the Specialist Reporting Team (SRT).
You'll work closely with national reporters to develop and deliver high‐impact stories across platforms. A core part of the role will be supporting our National Education and Parenting Reporter, alongside the flexibility to contribute across a broad range of SRT rounds and projects.
This is a dynamic, multiplatform role focused on producing original, audience‐first storytelling that resonates with Australians and reaches them wherever they are.
The Job
You will:
* Research, pitch and produce high‐impact, original stories for ABC audiences
* Work closely with national reporters to refine ideas, shape angles, source talent and identify follow‐ups
* Support the development and delivery of stories in the education and parenting space, while contributing flexibly across other SRT rounds as required
* Produce and deliver content across platforms, including digital, video, audio and broadcast
* Contribute to daily editorial processes and help drive strong story development
* Build and maintain a strong network of sources across education, parenting and broader social policy areas
* Monitor the news cycle and identify opportunities for distinctive, agenda‐setting coverage
* Ensure content is engaging, original and aligned with audience needs
* Support production of network stories as required, including research, scripting and coordination
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across reporting, digital and broadcast teams

About You
You're a highly capable, creative producer with a strong editorial instinct and a track record of delivering standout, multiplatform journalism. You know how to take a good idea and make it exceptional – shaping stories so they look, read and sound compelling across platforms. You're as comfortable refining an angle and working with talent as you are scripting, producing and delivering polished, high‐quality content.
You will bring:
* A strong track record of producing high‐impact, original stories across digital, video, audio and broadcast
* Excellent editorial judgement and a sharp instinct for what makes a story distinctive and engaging
* The ability to elevate storytelling – shaping scripts, visuals and structure to produce work of a consistently high standard
* Strong research skills and the ability to uncover and develop original story ideas
* Experience working closely with reporters to refine ideas, source talent and deliver compelling journalism
* The confidence to step into reporting where needed, including scripting and producing your own content
* Strong digital storytelling capabilities, with an understanding of audience behaviour and multiplatform delivery
* The ability to work flexibly across different subject areas and editorial priorities in a fast‐paced environment
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* A demonstrated interest in covering issues affecting Australian communities, including education, parenting and social affairs
* A commitment to producing journalism that reflects the diversity of the Australian community
