About the Program
The Ocean Stewardship Program is a well‐established marine conservation initiative based in the picturesque Koh Rong Archipelago of southwest Cambodia. Since its inception, the program has been at the forefront of marine conservation in Cambodia, with early milestones including establishing the country's first officially recognized marine reserve, implementing an artificial reef initiative, launching an environmental education program for youth, and pioneering solid waste management systems across the archipelago. By joining the program, you'll have the rare opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals and directly contribute to conservation efforts that shape the future of Cambodia's marine ecosystems.
Responsibilities
* Support management of Cambodia's first Marine National Park, an internationally recognized marine reserve.
* Collect and analyze critical marine survey data to ensure a sustainable future for the region.
* Engage in tree planting for reforestation, creating essential habitats for local wildlife.
* Participate in coastal clean‐up activities to safeguard the beachfront from plastic pollutants.
* Collect and responsibly dispose of trash and plastics found on the beach and in nearby areas.
* Help rescue and care for stray dogs from the streets, providing shelters and improved quality of life.
* Educate local children and community members about environmental protection; raise awareness about local environmental concerns and sustainable practices.
* Contribute to community development initiatives that align with environmental protection goals, fostering a sense of responsibility and ownership.
Daily Schedule
The schedule provides ample time for relaxation and rejuvenation, beginning at 9:00 AM and concluding at 11:00 AM, with a break before resuming at 2:00 PM and concluding at 4:00 PM.
