Make-A-Wish -- Volunteer Branch President -- North of Perth
Make-A-Wish Australia brings amazing people together to grant inspirational, life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We work with those kids and their families to grant unforgettable wishes-like making unicorns fly, sending kids to the moon and even helping Australia's youngest ever cricket captain don the baggy green!
The friendly team at our Northern Perth Branch are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised individual to join Make-A-Wish as their volunteer President.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Lead monthly meetings to discuss any relevant updates, from wishes and event planning to compliance requirements.
* Support your team of volunteers to ensure they are engaged and enjoying their Make-A-Wish experience and direct them to Head Office support services when required.
* Motivate branch volunteers by encouraging everyone to take ownership of their roles and responsibilities.
* Monitor the capacity and culture of your branch and work with Head Office to support recruitment and engagement.
* Help local wish families by capturing their child's unique wish and bringing it to life through different stages of the Wish Journey.
* Support fundraising and events, from trivia nights and sausage sizzles to gala balls and bake-offs. (Events vary by branch location.)
* Raise awareness and support in the local community, helping drive our reach and impact to achieve our mission.
Key Requirements
* Must be 18 years of age or over.
* Commit to at least 12 months as a volunteer for consistency for wish children and their families.
* Complete a comprehensive background check, including interview, reference checks, a Working with Children Check (or equivalent for your State/Territory) and a National Background Check.
* Complete online induction training within the first 6 weeks of becoming a volunteer (requires basic technical skills and access to a personal email address and a computer or smartphone/device).
* Attend branch meetings on a weekday evening once a month.
* Have reliable transport to attend meetings, wishes and fundraising events.
