* Employment Type: Full‐Time, Fixed Term (6-months from 3 August 2026)
* Salary: HM25-30+ Superannuation + Salary Packaging

About Western Health

Western Health is the major healthcare provider for one of the fastest growing regions of Australia. It operates four public hospitals, including the newly opened Footscray Hospital, with dedicated Intensive Care Units at Sunshine and Footscray.

Intensive Care at Western Health

We specialise in care for a young patient population with high severity illness scores. Sunshine ICU has 13 beds and admits around 1,250 critically ill adults a year (average APACHE3 score 65). Footscray ICU has 11 beds and admits about 900 critically ill adults per year (average APACHE3 score 59.5) with plans for expansion.

ICU Registrars gain a wide range of experience in adult intensive care medicine within a supportive, collaborative environment. Individual professional development is supported by an engaged medical and nursing group, a proactive Supervisors of Training team, and a mentorship programme.

What We Offer Our ICU Trainees

* One Transition Year Fellow appointment at Sunshine ICU for an eligible CICM trainee
* Part-time training available

Other accredited rotations include:

* Paediatric Ward Medicine
* Paediatric & Adult Emergency Medicine
* Adult Internal Medicine

A customised registrar teaching program includes:

* Protected weekly teaching covering ALS, airway skills, teamwork, communication, and the core ICU curriculum
* Simulation-based teaching at state‐of‐the‐art simulation centres
* Consultant-led primary examination teaching
* CVC workshop – hands‐on, consultant-led (twice yearly)
* BASIC course – scheduled twice yearly
* VICEN participation incorporated into the academic timetable
