The Newcastle Environmental Division has a fantastic opportunity to welcome someone to the team as an Asbestos Identifier.

The successful applicant will become part of a team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity, Monday to Friday 10:15am to 6:30pm. Afternoon shifts will begin once training is completed. Please note, some weekend shifts will also be required.

The day to day

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Preparation and analysis of samples

* Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with the Quality Procedures Manual

* Prioritising daily workloads

* Ensuring compliance with the laboratory's QC and HSE requirements

* Maintaining relevant documentation

* Reporting analytical results of Asbestos fibres.

The essentials

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

* Preferably proven lab experience and relevant tertiary qualifications are desirable but not essential for the right candidate

* Experience with Stereo, Polarised Microscope or Phase Contrast Microscope is desirable but not essential.

* A desire to work in a high-throughput, client-focused environment, with preference given to those with previous commercial laboratory experience

* Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skills

* Dedication to good laboratory practices regarding quality of results and health and safety

* Willingness to be cross trained in other sections of the laboratory
