Project Overview
The Eva Copper Mine Project is a greenfield resource poised to become the largest new mine in Queensland, Australia. It is located in Cloncurry on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. The Project is owned by Harmony, a world‐class gold and copper mining and development company with assets in South Africa, Australia, and Papua New Guinea. Bechtel is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Eva Copper Process Plant and Non‐Process Infrastructure.
Job Summary
In this role, you will plan, develop, coordinate and review plant design and piping work on large projects with specialized requirements. You will optimize facility layout based on diagrams, client needs, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements. Your technical input will ensure configuration compliance, procurement requirements are met, and complex issues are resolved.
"This position is designated as part‐time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in‐person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in‐person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership."
Major Responsibilities
* Evaluates, selects, and applies standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small‐size project or assignment in support of a global business unit or staff group including the preparation of original designs, layouts, details, drawings and specifications.
* Develops and interprets design criteria and specifications for most complex plant design and piping infrastructure in a global business unit.
* Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance.
* Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements.
* Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and proposes solutions.
* Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and/or difficult coordination requirements.
* Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations.
* Coordinates plant design engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
* Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations.
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8‐10 years of relevant experience or 12‐14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Experience in Piping Stress Analysis using CAESAR II and Pipe Support selection.
* Strong technical knowledge of construction piping installation, hydrotesting and pneumatic pipe testing (preferred).
* Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Aconex, Unifier, Agile, Navisworks and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects (preferred).
* Experience with multi‐discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight.
* Expertise in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
* Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design responsibilities.
* Experience in design and drafting, including demonstrated expertise in a lead role or recognized courses in the direction of personnel.
Working rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
Requires RPEQ and CPEN certificates.
