Overview

The Senior Lecturer in Paramedicine will shape research strategy and strengthen research capabilities across undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels in preparation for the launch of the Centre of Excellence in Paramedicine in 2027. The role leads impactful and innovative research within the discipline of Paramedicine and provides academic leadership to ensure effective delivery of the Bachelor of Paramedicine program, including design, review, and implementation of high-quality teaching, simulation, and learning content using evidence-based practices. The appointee will engage in scholarly teaching practice and contribute to continuous improvement of teaching quality.

About Us

Victoria University (VU) is developing a Centre of Excellence in Paramedicine at the Sunshine Campus, featuring state-of-the-art simulation facilities to support paramedicine programs and discipline-specific research. VU aims to be a global leader in dual sector learning and research by 2028 as part of the Strategic Plan 2022–2028.

About the Role

This full-time continuing position reports to the Head of Program: Allied Health and works within University policies and guidelines. The successful candidate will lead building research capacity and engagement within the Bachelor of Paramedicine and the broader discipline, contribute to a research-informed curriculum aligned with the VU Block Model pedagogy, and promote excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarship. The role requires adaptability to a agile academic environment and ongoing institutional and discipline-specific changes. The position is based at the St Albans Campus.

This is a full-time continuing position at Academic Level C $134,005 - $154,514 plus 17% superannuation, working 36.75 hours per week.

Responsibilities

- Work with College staff, including the Course Chair, to foster collaborations, build research capacity, and strengthen industry engagement in Paramedicine.
- Prepare and deliver teaching materials for block workshops, practical classes, and simulations using innovative, fit-for-purpose approaches within the VU block model.
- Consult with and provide advice, support, and feedback to students.

Qualifications & Experience

- Hold a PhD in Paramedicine or a related Allied Health area.
- Knowledge of Paramedicine on a broad basis.
- Experience in teaching and research in a Higher Education context with the capacity to mentor early career researchers.
- Strong passion for teaching and commitment to continuous improvement in student learning.
- Background in training or teaching at the higher education level, particularly in paramedicine, with awareness of broad issues in the field.
- Willingness to contribute to research programs within the discipline and the college.
- Ability to facilitate excellence in postgraduate teaching through innovative methods.
