About the Role
As our next Mechanical Engineer reporting to the Maintenance Manager and supporting the Statutory Mechanical Engineer, you will form an integral part of our Maintenance team while working collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results. Within this role you will be responsible for providing engineering and project management support to the maintenance team including:
* Continual auditing, monitoring and improvement of site practice and standards for statutory compliance with legislation, Australian Standards, Mine Design Guidelines, industry and Thiess Safety Alert mandates and recommendations, and mandates and recommendations within Thiess business standards, procedures and guidelines.
* Mobilisation of new and used assets to site including asset inspections, planning/coordinating defect repairs, critical inspection report reviews, coordinating asset requests, facilitating risk assessments, implementing and coordinating effective change management practices.
* Planning/coordinating statutory and critical asset inspections.
* Drafting/designing initiatives, upgrades and improvements to maintenance equipment/process requirements for certification and fabrication.
* Developing, reviewing and coordinating mechanical improvements on downtime/reliability issues.
* Developing outcome‑driven cost‑effective solutions to technical and process efficiency based problems.
* Supporting and coordinating maintenance facilities/infrastructure projects, incident investigations and reporting.
This role follows a 5/2 roster and is located at Mt Pleasant Operation close to the township of Muswellbrook NSW.
About You
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Open cut experience supervising mechanical personnel.
* Experience in asset management/maintenance highly regarded.
* Experience using, developing or managing document control systems.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel and Autodesk Inventor (CAD software) skills highly regarded.
* A positive, self‑motivated attitude and drive to learn.
* Understanding of safe work practices.
* Understanding of outcome‑driven cost‑effective solutions.
* Understanding of Australian Standards.
* Strong report writing & auditing skills.
