About the opportunity: The Engineering Services Officer position is designed to provide engineering services related to building services infrastructure for the relevant region(s). These building services include but are not limited to electrical, mechanical, fire, security, gas and hydraulic related services. The focus for this position is the North and North-West Tasmania facilities.
Services provided by this position range from system operations, administration, surveys, inspections, maintenance and works-related advice, to asset knowledge, information and works management including projects. This position also supports works management across a variety of projects as required.
What you'll do
Provide expert advice and leadership on building services infrastructure for works and maintenance within the university.
Provide advice and leadership in scoping and costing of works, considering procurement measures.
Maintain acceptable reliability across complex systems and infrastructure, identifying opportunities for service development through innovation.
Provide expert advice on developing and implementing university strategies, policies, procedures and protocols related to building services infrastructure utilities and associated software systems.
Champion continuous improvement of areas of responsibility and the broader business unit, including infrastructure data/knowledge analysis and measurement of building performance to ensure effective reporting of issues and recommendations.
Represent Campus Services in the management of minor capital and operating projects for utilities, building services infrastructure, software and systems, providing oversight and direction to trades.
What we're looking for
A qualification in electrical, mechanical or building services engineering with relevant practising experience and/or operational experience.
A current driver's licence.
Proven knowledge of building services, ability to interpret plans, schematics and technical documentation.
Developed knowledge of property management and operation.
Experience managing external relationships with trades and stakeholders in a large, complex organisation with varying needs.
Experience with complex property-based software systems and/or building management systems such as HVAC control, CCTV, access control, lighting and metering.
Strong analytic, numeracy and problem-solving skills, producing effective solutions to complex technical problems.
Proven understanding and use of modern project management methods to plan and manage a diverse range of activities with multiple stakeholders, meeting deadlines and responding to changing priorities.
Salary details: Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130,943 comprising a base salary within the range of $101,821 to $111,917 plus 17% superannuation.
