Psychologist / Mental Health Social Worker — Trauma, EMDR and Neurodivergent Practice
About Create Balance
Create Balance is a psychotherapy practice in Geelong built around a single clinical focus: helping clients who haven't found what they need from traditional talk therapy. We work primarily with trauma, complex presentations, and neurodivergent clients, and we do it well.
EMDR is central to how we work, not an add-on. Our director, Shannon, is an EMDR Accredited Practitioner and has built a practice culture around evidence‐based, progressive approaches that produce real, measurable outcomes for clients who have often been let down elsewhere.
We are a focused, purposeful practice. That is intentional.
About the role
We are growing and looking for an experienced, already‐registered clinician to join our dedicated clinical team on a contractor basis.
This role is for you if you are a registered Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker with experience working with trauma, complex mental health presentations and neurodivergent clients. You have existing EMDR training or a genuine interest in further developing it. We have the tools, the technology and the clinical culture to support you going further in this area.
You are looking for a well‐supported contracting arrangement backed by a strong referral infrastructure. You are drawn to a smaller, purposeful environment where the clinical conversation is high quality, and the work genuinely matters.
What you will bring

* Registration with AHPRA or AASW
* Professional indemnity insurance
* A strong ability to build rapport and hold clients through complex presentations
* Genuine interest in trauma‐informed, neurodivergent‐affirming practice
What Create Balance offers
* A well‐established referral network with strong GP relationships and active marketing support to help build your caseload

* Access to EMDR tools and technology, including both traditional and digital modalities
* In‐house and virtual reception, a dedicated practice manager and administrative support so you can focus on clinical work
* Flexible hours designed around a sustainable, long‐term arrangement
* A collaborative and autonomous working environment built on high trust
* Located in Geelong, a liveable city with a growing and underserved clinical population

Ready to talk?
The best fit for this role will not be decided by a CV alone. Shannon is genuinely interested in a conversation about what you are looking for, what kind of clinical environment lets you do your best work, and whether Create Balance is the right fit for you.
Reach out directly. He would rather have a real conversation than exchange forms.
