Even if you only meet some of the criteria, we'd love to hear from you.Build a rewarding career with an organisation that truly puts people first!SCHADS Level 4B ($43.08-46.35ph) + 25% casual loading + super+ salary packaging benefitsCasual roles based out of Wagga Wagga NSWAbout the programThe Universal Aftercare service is a peer led, non-clinical support service focused on providing psychosocial support to people experiencing a suicidal crisis or who have attempted suicide.About the opportunityThe purpose of a Peer Worker isn't about therapy, or having to talk about suicide, it is about connecting with someone who has some shared experience of suicidality and the recovery journey. It is focused on empowering people by providing compassion, guidance, encouragement, motivation and follow-up. Peer Workers will support individuals to develop skills, confidence, and knowledge to improve their wellbeing and community connections. They will encourage them to engage actively with their care team, including their Universal Aftercare Support Coordinator, to maximise the benefit they can receive from support services. And at other times they will sit and listen to their concerns, joys and experiences, knowing that being heard, and having someone to share recovery with is therapeutic.To be successful in this role, you will need:Lived Experience of a suicidal crisis, including suicidal ideation or a suicide attempt.Demonstrated understanding of peer practice principles and frameworks. Previous experience in a designated peer work role is highly desirable.Ability to utilise your Lived Experience in a trauma informed, safe and purposeful manner, aligning with peer practice principles and values.Effective communication skills with people from a variety of backgrounds, including people from CALD backgrounds.Highly developed verbal and written skills, including the ability to write case notes and contribute to evaluation reports and documents.Experience in working with children/young people is highly regarded.Ability to build strong community networks utilising grass root approaches.Right to work within AustraliaCurrent valid Driver's Licence and the ability to undertake some travelNDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (free online course)Satisfactory National Police Records CheckNDIS Worker Screening CheckWorking with Children's Check (Employee/Paid)What we offerPurpose-Driven Culture: Immerse yourself in a culture where passion meets purpose.
