Overview
The Accommodation Services Officer (ASO) provides support and oversight of offenders subject to Supervision Orders issued in accordance with the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003. Work a 24/7 roster, monitoring offenders' compliance with order conditions and accommodation requirements, and providing support and encouragement to offenders to develop independent living skills to successfully reintegrate back into the community.

Key Responsibilities
As an ASO you will provide support and oversight of offenders subject to Supervision Orders, work a 24/7 roster, monitor compliance with order conditions and accommodation requirements, and help offenders develop independent living skills for successful community reintegration.
Skills and Experience
* Verbal communication – assess audience and provide appropriately tailored and clear information and explanations to a range of individuals and groups, dealing with challenging behaviour appropriately.
* Written communication – prepare succinct and accurate documents in a timely manner.
* Stakeholder engagement – engage with a variety of stakeholders and external service providers to achieve positive outcomes.
* Interpersonal skills – deliver information to offenders and colleagues in a professional and appropriate manner, engage respectfully, build rapport with others in order to understand issues and suggest courses of action appropriate to their needs.
* Problem solving – solve problems based on operational guidelines and knowledge, gather information to inform decision making and appropriately elevate risk to management.
* Conflict management – confidently assess conflict situations and apply sound judgement and knowledge of guidelines and procedures to effectively manage conflict.
* Governance – knowledge, interpretation and application of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Computer skills – effectively use departmental computer systems for word processing, email, specialised programs, and internet and intranet functions.
* Resilience – demonstrate perseverance in achieving objectives and cope effectively with setbacks and problems.
* Empathy and cultural awareness – demonstrate an interest in and respect for a range of different cultures and actively seek to understand and effectively engage with others.
Other Conditions and Requirements
* Experience in a criminal justice environment, human services or other regulatory agency will be highly desired.
* The incumbent will be required to undertake and successfully complete internal pre‐service training and associated accreditations, and ongoing training and professional development relevant to the role.
* Possession of a C Class driver's license.
This position involves shift work as the role supports the 24/7 monitoring of offenders in the community. Shift penalties apply.
