- About the role
Are you an experienced fabricator and sheet metal worker/welder looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity to join our team at Shady Characters Australia and Jimboomba Laser Cutting and Fabrication in Jimboomba, Queensland. This is a full time role where you will play a key part in the production and fabrication processes within our growing business.
What you'll be doing
1. Fabricating and welding a variety of sheet metal components and products
2. Experience working with all metals including stainless steel, aluminium, and steel is essential
3. Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
4. Operating various welding equipment and machinery including CNC press brake and laser skilfully and safely
5. Performing mechanical assemblies and finishing tasks as required
6. Maintaining a clean and organised work area
7. Working collaboratively with the production team to meet deadlines
What we're looking for
1. Proven experience as a fabricator and sheet metal preferably in a similar manufacturing or industrial environment
2. Minimum 3-5 years of fabrication and sheet metal welding experience required
3. Strong working knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and safety protocols
4. Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, and gas welding techniques is essential
5. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work to tight specifications
6. Candidates must be able to interpret all drawing types including basic sketches, 2D drawings, and 3D CAD drawings
7. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
8. Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
9. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
10. Experience on CNC machines an advantage
11. Australian work rights are required for this position
