For more than 40 years, the North Qld Export Terminal, located at the Port of Abbot Point, has demonstrated its commitment to safety, efficiency, responsibility, and partnership with the local community.
APO has been contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal Pty Ltd to manage operations of it's coal export terminal at the Port of Abbot Point - Australia's northernmost coal port - located 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between Townsville and Mackay, serving as the gateway to the Whitsundays.
Abbot Point Operations has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Support Officer to join the Reliability and Maintenance Department on a fixed-term 12 month contract.
In this role, you'll provide hands-on support to the Manager and the Maintenance and Reliability team, helping to optimise workflows, improve documentation, and ensure efficient operations. You'll work closely with supervisors, engineers, and team members to support scheduling, reporting, compliance, and process improvements, helping the department run smoothly and effectively.
What You'll Do:
Provide support to the Manager and wider maintenance team, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
Manage documentation and record keeping to ensure accuracy and support data-driven improvements.
Assist with scheduling and coordination of maintenance team activities, identifying opportunities to optimise workflows.
Prepare reports, presentations, and perform data entry to support informed decision-making and process enhancement.
Support health, safety, and compliance requirements through effective documentation, reporting, and improvement actions.
Identify, recommend, and implement improvements and innovations across systems, processes, and team practices.
What We're Looking For:
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement improvements
Previous experience in an administration role, ideally within maintenance, engineering, or heavy industry.
Experience with maintenance systems (SAP or similar CMMS) is highly desirable.
Excellent organisational and time management skills with a focus on improving efficiency and workflow.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams, including managers, superintendents, and supervisors.
High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities while seeking out improvement opportunities.
